Background Activity and Noise in Human Intracranial Microwire Recordings

December 5, 2023 | Research

Dr. Steinmetz published an article “Simulation of Background Neuronal Activity and Noise in Human Intracranial Microwire Recordings” in the Journal of Neuroscience Methods. This article provides a frequency domain characterization of the typical forms of background activity and noise in human intracranial microwire recordings as well as a method of quickly and accurately simulating this background using an infinite impulse response filter.

This technique facilitates the simulation of this type of recording for studies of spike sorting and how spiking activity and local field potentials interact.
